Integration between RISA-3D and SDS2
Version 20.0.2 allows users to integrate models between RISA-3D and SDS2, including model geometry, members sizes and end reactions.
Case Study: Designing for Strength at Every Level When a Midwest engineering firm was tasked with designing a 120,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, they knew the challenge wasn’t just about steel and concrete—it was about integration. The structure needed to support overhead cranes, custom conveyor systems, rooftop equipment, and a range of vibration-sensitive machinery. On top of that, the site’s soil profile required deep foundations and a mat slab in high-load zones. Instead of managing this complex design puzzle across multiple platforms, the firm turned to the full RISA Suite—using RISA-3D, RISAFloor, and RISAFoundation in tandem. The result? A seamless, accurate, and time-saving design process that allowed the firm to deliver ahead of schedule. Steel Superstructures Made Simple With RISA-3D, the team quickly modeled the facility’s steel framing system, including built-up columns, multi-bay trusses, and lateral bracing. Loads from the cranes, roof units, and custom mezzanines were easily applied using RISA’s versatile load generator and load combination tools. Key wins: Modeled the entire lateral and gravity system in a single file Ran multiple load scenarios including seismic, crane surge, and equipment-induced vibration Used RISA’s code checks to validate steel member sizing under heavy, variable loads Floor System Integration with RISAFloor With steel…

RISA-3D now includes the ability to "match properties" between members. For more information about this feature, check out the video below:
ADAPT-Builder v21.0.1 includes the option to import reactions from a RISA-3D model. The program will import the superstructure reactions and loading as point and line loads. The B3D Import Wizard allows you to choose which load cases to import and gives you the ability to map the loads to existing...
RISA-3D is expanding its industry leading support for the analysis and design of various materials with the implementation of Seismic Design of Masonry Wall Panels according to the provisions of TMS 402-16 (as well as ACI 530-13). When creating a model in RISA-3D, users now have the ability to...
The CSA A23.3-14 Concrete Design Code has been implemented into RISA-3D v20 and RISAFloor v16 for concrete wall panels. These walls can be designated and designed as either gravity only or lateral elements in RISAFloor when designing a complete building utilizing concrete walls. Prior to this...
RISA-3D Version 20 includes enhanced rotation tools which allow the user to better control their view of the structure. Users can now utilize click to rotate buttons about each axis (X, Y and Z) as well as define the rotation angle of each click/increment. For more information about these enhanced...
RISA-3D is a robust tool for the analysis and design of a variety of different structures. Whether users are creating simple or incredibly complex models, the need to be able to easily review precise results and create corresponding screenshots is paramount. As a result, RISA-3D Version 20 now...
RISA-3D continues to be at the cutting-edge of finite elements analysis software with the release of the Geometric Nonlinear Stiffness method for use during P-Delta analysis. Traditionally, RISA-3D considered P-Delta effects using a Standard Nodal Shear methodology which applies pseudo shear loads...
Engineers choose RISA-3D and RISAFloor for the design of all types of steel structures. As a result, we are constantly improving the software and its acceptance of various types of design elements and materials. The latest improvement includes back-to-back hot rolled steel channels which are now...
