Indian Hot Rolled Steel Members and Design

The new release supports steel design in accordance with IS 800:2007, including Amendment 1 (2012) and Amendment 2 (2024).  This update helps engineers keep their steel design aligned with the latest applicable Indian code provisions while continuing to use the familiar RISA design workflow.

Version 23.0.3 of our core products also expands the available Indian steel shape database with shapes from several major manufacturers.  Together, the updated codes and expanded steel library makes it easier for engineers to select the appropriate sizes, analyze structural behavior, and design steel members all in one place.

Loading per Indian Codes

The new release also expands loading capabilities for Indian projects. Engineers can now generate seismic loading in accordance with IS 1893:2016 and wind loading in accordance with IS 875:2015.

In addition, IS 875:2015 load combinations are now available through the load combination generator allowing engineers to add applicable combinations to their models more efficiently.  These enhancements provide a more complete workflow for defining loads, generating combinations, analyzing the structure, and progressing through design within the RISA suite.

Other Key Improvements in Analysis

RISACore version 23.0.3 includes a range of additional analysis, design, and workflow enhancements across RISA-3D, RISAFloor, and RISAFoundation. Many of these updates reflect feedback from the engineers who use RISA products every day, and we are excited to continue incorporating customer input into each release.

One example is a new RISAFoundation feature for the design of mat slabs and spread footings.  Engineers can now choose whether to ignore the size effect factor for one-way and two-way shear strength.  This option aligns with ACI 318-22, Section 13.2.6.2 and provides added flexibility when evaluating foundation design.

By giving engineers more control over the variables included, RISAFoundation supports a more adaptable and customizable design for their mat slabs and spread footings.
