RISA | Exporting Results Spreadsheets to Excel

Do you need to include your RISA results into your Excel spreadsheet? Directly export result spreadsheets from RISAFloor, RISA-3D, and RISAFoundation.

STEP 1: Right Click and click Export to Excel option.

STEP 2: Choose if you want to export the current spreadsheet tab or all tabs.

STEP 3: Select Excel file name and file save location and export.

Viewing column information graphically in RISAFloor

Mat Slab Overturning and Sliding Safety Factors

RISAFoundation v11.0 includes two new tabs in the Safety Factors results spreadsheet that breakdown the slab’s stabilizing and destabilizing forces for each category. The new Overturn/Resist by Category and Sliding/Resist by Category tabs make it easy to understand how the program calculates the safety factor results for a mat slab demand and resisting forces for both overturning and sliding. RISAFoundation calculates the safety factors using the True Safety Factor Method, which involves looking at each category within a load combination and deciding whether it has a stabilizing to de-stabilizing effect. This means that each category will act as either a demand or resisting force, depending on the net sliding or overturning result for each local x and z direction. This is why it is important to assign your load categories appropriately to get a better sense of the true tendency of the structure to overturn. How to Use Spreadsheets More Effectively in RISA

RISA includes various advanced spreadsheet operations that make reviewing input and results easy. The features that we will focus on are available in the "Spreadsheet" tab located in the ribbon toolbar whenever a spreadsheet is open as well as by right-clicking in the table. P-Delta analysis is required in the AISC code, and it is something that you must specify on a per-load-combination basis. This is done by typing the letter Y in the P-Delta column of the Load Combinations spreadsheet. For those who aren’t familiar with the spreadsheet tools this can be a tedious task of typing the letter into every load combination. Instead, try doing this: click on the header of the P-Delta column to highlight the entire column in pink, click on the Block Fill button (the one on the right highlighted above) and have the program fill the block (group of currently selected cells) with the letter Y. Now let’s say that you’ve got a solution and you want to review your results, however you may have quite a few members to sort through.
