How Does the Silent Converter Work?

The Silent License Converter Tool simplifies the process of transitioning RISA applications to Cloud-Based Subscription licensing. During installation, the tool takes care of the technical aspects, ensuring a hassle-free experience for users. Here's how it works:

  1. Registry Licensing Settings: During installation, the RISA registry licensing settings for the client machine are configured to "Cloud" in the HKLM (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE) registry.

  2. User-Specific Settings: After installation is complete, the next time the user logs in to Windows, the tool will automatically set the user-specific licensing settings to "Cloud" in the HKCU (HKEY_CURRENT_USER) registry, ensuring a seamless transition. 

Easy to Use Steps:

  1. Download the Silent Converter Tool: Find the tool with the filename "RISALicenseTypeTool.exe."

  2. Run as Administrator: Execute the command as an administrator. Be sure to run it directly from the folder where the tool is downloaded.

  3. Usage: Use the command "RISALicenseTypeTool.exe /qn" to initiate the silent conversion process.

  4. Logging Results: If you wish to log the results for reference, use the command "RISALicenseTypeTool.exe /qn /lv log.txt."

  5. Extract the MSI File: To extract the MSI file from the executable and run it manually, employ the command "RISALicenseTypeTool.exe /extract."

Technical Notes: It's important to keep in mind a few technical details when using the Silent License Converter Tool.

  • Add/Remove Program Files: This feature is listed in the Windows Add/Remove program files screen. It's worth noting that uninstalling this feature will not impact the RISA license type.
  • Deployment Across Multiple Machines: The installer EXE can be effortlessly deployed to multiple machines using Endpoint Management software, making it a time-efficient solution for organizations.
  • User Log Out Required: Please note that changes on the client machines will only take effect when the user logs out of Windows and then logs back in.
