We are excited to announce that one of our own, Dr. Cheng Song PH.D, PE, was recently named the 2020 Young Engineer of the Year by the SEA of Southern California for his work as co-chair of the Younger Member committee.

Cheng joined RISA in 2018 as a senior application engineer and has been involved in technical support as well as developing new design/analysis features for RISA programs. His primary development focus includes seismic design and analysis, concrete design, steel composite joist design, steel joist vibration analysis, dynamic analysis and orthotropic plates.

Prior to joining RISA, Cheng graduated from Purdue University with his M.S. and Ph.D. with research focused on seismic assessment and evaluation for concrete moment frame and shear wall structures. After graduation, he worked for Walter P Moore and Associates, Inc. in Los Angeles with projects focused on structural assessment, evaluation, and rehabilitation.

Outside of work, Cheng enjoys being outdoors and going camping and fishing as well as playing the occasional round of golf.

Congratulations to Cheng on this incredible honor!
